Biographical/Historical Note
This is one of Poland's NSZZ "Solidarnosc" (Independent Self-Governing Trade Union "Solidarity") local branches in the town
and province of Siedlce, a unit of Solidarity's Mazovia Region. The Siedlce organization was founded in late 1980 and was
legally tolerated by the Communist authorities until martial law was declared on December 13, 1981.
Scope and Content of Collection
The collection includes minutes of meetings, reports, appeals, correspondence, financial records, leaflets, and flyers, relating
to political and economic conditions in Poland's Siedlce province. Also included are some internal Solidarity communications
and general distribution materials from outside of the province, principally from Warsaw, as well a several underground Solidarity
publications from 1982 to 1989.
