    Abstract: Benjamin Platt (d. 1960) founded the Platt Music Company (1905) in Los Angeles, and became the head of May Company's appliance department in 1924. The collection consists of correspondence, printed material, financial records, and photographs relating to the Platt Music Company and Benjamin Platt's career, including his activities as a promoter of various Jewish organizations in Los Angeles.

    Biography

    Platt was born near Kiev, Russia; fled pogroms in 1902; came to the U.S. and founded the Platt Music Company in 1905; became head of May Company's appliance department in 1924; he died on April 18, 1960 in Los Angeles.

    Collection consists of correspondence, printed material, financial records, and photographs relating to the Platt Music Company of Los Angeles and the career of its head, Benjamin Platt, including his activities as a promoter of various Jewish organizations in Los Angeles.
