In
Silicon Valley, Women, and the California Dream: Gender, Class, and Opportunity in the Twentieth Century, Matthews focused on gender, race, and class to examine the development of the Silicon Valley's labor history. The oral histories
in the collection document the experiences of fruit-cannery workers, high-tech industry workers, union organizers, and a number
of female politicians that formed part of the "Feminist Capital" period of politics in the Silicon Valley.
The collection consists of audio cassette tapes, transcriptions, and select release forms from the interviewers. The interviews
