Biography
Frederick Baker served as city attorney for the city of Avalon, Santa Catalina Island, Los Angeles County, California; the
successful incorporation election for the city was held June 19, 1913; the first meeting of the city's Board of Trustees (later
the City Council) was held June 26, 1913; it was incorporated as a municipality of the 6th class by the Los Angeles County
Board of Supervisors, June 23, 1923.
Scope and Content
Collection consists of an incomplete set of copies of city council meeting minutes from Avalon, California for June 26, 1913-May
4, 1942; July 1924-1929 (except November 18 & 25, 1929), and 1934-1941 are missing. The file of the minutes belonged to the
city attorney for Avalon, Frederick Baker, and contains notes addressed to him and a few holograph corrections of the minutes.
