Wolper (1928- ) helped form Flamingo Films, which merged with a distributing company, Motion Pictures for Television before he formed Wolper Productions (1958), which became known for developing a new market for independently-produced documentary films. Wolper Productions was absorbed by Metromedia Producers Corporation (MPC) in 1968, shortly after it ventured into feature films. The collection consists of television scripts and research materials for the biography series of documentary television films produced by Wolper for Wolper Productions.

Biography

Wolper was born on January 11, 1928 in New York City; attended Drake University and the University of Southern California; helped form Flamingo Films, which merged with a distributing company, Motion Pictures for Television; formed Wolper Productions in 1958, which became known for developing a new market for independently-produced documentary films; it was absorbed by Metromedia Producers Corporation (MPC) in 1968, shortly after it ventured into feature films.

Collection consists of television scripts and research materials for the biography series of documentary television films produced by David L. Wolper for Wolper Productions. Biographical subject names include Konrad Adenauer, Fidel Castro, Henry Ford, John Glenn, Helen Keller, John L. Lewis, Pope Pius XII, Jackie Robinson, George Bernard Shaw, and Wernher Von Braun.
