Description
Collection contains a photograph album with images of Stanford and San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake; portrait of the Electrical Engineering Society at Stanford, 1907, of which Hopkins was the secretary; Senior Week Program for the class of 1907; and a 1958 pamphlet by Laurence M. Klauber "Two Days in San Francisco Year - 1906" which contains his letters about the 1906 earthquake. Images of note in the album include Hopkins sitting on rubble in San Francisco, interior of a damaged Encina Hall room, group of women students walking past the Stanford Quad under repair, views of the fire in San Francisco, cooking on the street in San Francisco, and a group of men in San Francisco, possibly Stanford student volunteer helpers.
Background
Ralph Allen Hopkins earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering at Stanford in 1907; he had a career with Westinghouse, which awarded him the Order of Merit when he retired in 1949.
