Description
Gordon Haines True (1868-1928) served as Professor of Animal Husbandry at the
University of California from 1913-1928. His papers contain correspondence, two photographs, and a scrapbook
relating to his work with livestock and the University of California.
Background
Gordon Haines True was born in Baraboo, Wisconsin on December 14, 1868. After graduating from the University of
Wisconsin in 1894, he served at the Michigan Agricultural College, the University of Arizona, and the University
of Nevada before accepting a position at the University Farm (now the University of California, Davis) as
Professor of Animal Husbandry in 1913. He was Chairman of the Animal Husbandry Division from 1914-1926.
