    Abstract: The County Historical Heritage Commission Papers and Photographs collection contains Commission documents, correspondence, minutes, agendas, Heritage Resource Inventory paperwork, Historic American Buildings Surveys, newspaper clippings, photographs and negatives that range from 1960 to 1983. The bulk of the collection is from 1975 to 1979 when Art Ogilvie, a county planner, was on the commission.

    Administrative History

    The Santa Clara County Historical Heritage Commission was created in 1973 by the Board of Supervisors in order to "protect, preserve, and promote the appreciation, recognition and preservation of historic resources in Santa Clara County." This commission advises the Board of Supervisors.
    The commission is responsible for the creation and maintaining of the Heritage Resource Inventory, promoting historic preservation, and ensuring that significantly historic structures and sites are not disturbed or destroyed.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    The County Historical Heritage Commission Papers and Photographs collection contains Commission documents, correspondence, minutes, agendas, Heritage Resource Inventory paperwork, Historic American Buildings Surveys, newspaper clippings, photographs and negatives that range from 1960 to 1983. The bulk of the collection is from 1975 to 1979 when Art Ogilvie, a county planner, was on the commission.

    Arrangement

    This collection is arranged into three series: Commission records, newspaper clippings, and photographs. The Commission records are arranged by type, the clippings are arranged by date, and the photographs are arranged by order number.
