Biographical/Historical Sketch
Professor of histology at Stanford (1892-1934; emeritus, 1934-1951) and one of the organizers of the Hopkins Marine Biological
Station at Pacific Grove. MacFarland was in charge of Hopkins Marine Station from 1910-1913 and co-director 1915-1917.
