Scope and Content Notes
The collection primarily contains files on oil-related issues stemming from the 1969 Santa Barbara Oil Spill. Materials are
grouped into the following series:

Government Action/Response (Boxes 1-15) - local, state, federal, including hearings, reports, and legislation.

Lawsuits/Legal Action (Boxes 16-20) - mainly court records and related material re lawsuits GOO was involved in or was monitoring.

Office Files (Boxes 21-27) - including bylaws, minutes, fundraising, mailings, membership, newsletters, and publications.

Subject Files (Boxes 28-71) - the largest part of the collection, arranged alphabetically.
Published materials, such as Environmental Impact Reports, have been transferred to the UCSB Libraries Government Information
Center (GIC). They have been cataloged and may be searched in Pegasus, the UCSB Libraries online catalog.
