    Historical note

The Comprehensive Health Planning Council of Los Angeles County was a not-for-profit corporation authorized by the State Health Planning Council to carry out comprehensive health planning in Los Angeles County. It was one of twelve area-wide agencies covering California, and one of about 200 such agencies across the United States. In addition to developing a comprehensive plan, the Council established its own goal of assuring equal access to the highest possible health care for all residents of Los Angeles County, evaluating available health care resources, assessing community health care needs, and setting priorities for the utilization of available resources.
