Scope and Content of Collection
One photograph album containing 80 b/w snapshots, a few with captions identifying individuals, apparently from the Zone de
la Mongala (river area) of the Belgian Congo, ca. 1890s to early 1900s. Includes images of local inhabitants and activities
such as forest clearing, villages and rural scenes, buildings, paddlewheel steamboat, Belgian missionaries, and other Europeans
(presumably Belgians, perhaps company or government officials, and families).
