Collection consists of correspondence and papers of Charles A. Beebe, chiefly as receiver of public moneys for the district
of lands subject to sale at Los Angeles. Includes his letter of appointment on January 29, 1863 signed by President Abraham
Lincoln and Secretary of the Interior John P. Usher, and letters from Joseph S. Wilson and J.M. Edmunds of the General Land
Office, Receiver at San Francisco James W. Shanklin, Samuel V. Niles, Edward F. Beebe and others. Also contains drafts and
copies of letters sent by Beebe, accounts bills, receipts, certificates of deposit of money in the U.S. Treasury, and applications
for purchase of land, including one from Phineas Banning.
