Scope and Content Note

The correspondence and papers of Beebe chiefly as receiver of public moneys for the district of lands subject sales to at Los Angeles. Included are: his appointment, January 29, 1863, signed by President Lincoln and Secretary. of Interior John P. Usher; letters received by Beebee from Joseph S. Wilson and J.M. Edmunds of the General Land Office, James W. Shanklin, Receiver at San Francisco, Samuel V. Niles, Edward F. Beale and others; drafts and copies of letters sent by Beebe; accounts, bills, receipts, certificates of deposit of money in the U.S. Treasury, and applications for purchase of land, including one from Phineas Banning.
