Description
The small collection consists of plays that Jones wrote for students in the Drama Department and Speech Arts Department while at San Diego State, musical compositions (presumably also performed at SDSU), and course materials for music theory and drama classes. The Sybil Eliza Jones Papers are organized into five series: Plays, Music, Scrapbooks, Course Outlines and Lessons, and Miscellaneous.
Background
Sybil Eliza Jones came to San Diego State University in 1925 where, for 23 years, she was a teacher of dramatics and an associate professor of Speech Arts. She was known as a skillful writer and producer of numerous plays, short stories, and musical scores.
