The letter dated 06/26/1821 is from Cooper and William P. Hartnell to the first native governor of California, Luis Antonio Argüello detailing the grant, bargain, and sale of several items totalling $9,000. The lease dated 07/03/1859 states that H. C. Curtis was letting approximately 100 x 93 yards of property on the north side of Decatur street near the custom house in Monterey from Cooper. The undated brief is between plaintiffs James Martin and others against defendants John R. Cooper and others disputing who held the title of the Rancho Rincon de las Salinas in Monterey, CA. It was drawn up by William Matthews, attorney for the defendants. The folder of Spanish language items contains two letters: one from 06/20/1844 from John Augustus Sutter and Manuel Micheltorena, the second undated from Manuel Micheltorena, both to unknown recipients regarding the rancho in Monterey.
