Biographical/Historical Sketch

Wanda M. Corn, a scholar of late 19th- and early 20th-century painting and photography, joined the faculty of Stanford's Department of Art and Art History in 1980. She is the author of THE GREAT AMERICAN THING: MODERN ART AND NATIONAL IDENTITY, 1915-1935 (1999) and several exhibit catalogs including GRANT WOOD, THE REGIONALIST VISION (1983) and THE ART OF ANDREW WYETH (1973).

Description of the Collection

Papers include correspondence, memoranda, reports, publications, newsletters, minutes, and other materials pertaining to her teaching and administrative duties in the Department of Art and Art History, her involvement with the Stanford Humanities Center, and other aspects of her professional life, 1970-2006; and as acting director of the Stanford Museum, 1987-1992. Other items of note include newsletters and other records from the College Art Association of America, 1970-91; and newsletters and other materials from the Women's Caucus for Art, 1972-1990.
