Robert Kjer Jakobsen was born in Portland, Oregon, on March 8, 1918.
From 1949 to 1985, he was chief designer of the Los Angeles furniture company,
Virtue Brothers; his designs of chrome and formica furniture were particularly
successful. In retirement, he turned to photography. His early work shooting
for men's body building magazines led to experimental fine art photography
involving the use of photochemicals and reprinting from negatives and prints.
He died on May 27, 2002.
