Abstract: Leonard V. Finder (1910-1969) was editor of the
Sacramento Union
from 1962-1966. After Finder left the
Sacramento Union, he devoted his time to lecturing
and teaching, primarily at the Extension Program of the University of California, Davis. His Papers
contain an unfinished manuscript of his unpublished book, Reflections in Asia, written following a world
tour in 1966.

Biography
Leonard V. Finder (1910-1969) received his B.A. from the University of Illinois (1930) and his LL.B. from
the University of Illinois Law School (1933). He practiced law in Chicago from 1933-1938 and went on to
become Assistant National Director and Eastern Regional Director of the Anti-Defamation League. From
1947-1951, he was publisher of the
Manchester Evening-Leader and the
Stafford
Star
in New Hampshire. After a ten year stint as Vice President and Secretary at the Universal
Match Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri, he served as editor and publisher of the
Sacramento
Union
from 1962-1966.
After Finder left the
Sacramento Union, he devoted his time to lecturing and teaching,
primarily at the Extension Program of the University of California, Davis. Following a world tour in
1966, he began work on a book manuscript entitled, "Reflections in Asia."
Scope and Content
Unfinished manuscript of Finder's unpublished book, Reflections in Asia. Finder began writing this
manuscript following a world tour he took in 1966. In his introduction, Finder describes the work as
"offered as one contribution to a better public opinion of our international relations, not as a
diverting travelogue."
