Biography/History
Reid was born in Witchita Falls, Texas on December 9, 1918. She has had several Broadway, motion picture, and television credits,
and was well known for her continuing role as Alice Grayson Horton on the television serial
Edge of Night (since 1965).
Days of Our Lives was created by Ted Corday, Irna Phillips, and Allan Chase and aired on November 8, 1965. The story is set in the town of
Salem, and focuses on Tom and Alice Horton and their family. After Corday's death, his wife, Betty Corday, became executive
producer of the series. Other executive producers included H. Wesley Kenney, Jack Herzberg, and Al Rabin. Numerous head writers
have included Peggy Phillips, Kenneth Rosen, William Bell, Pat Falken Smith, Ann Marcus, Elizabeth Harrower, Ruth Brooks Flippen,
Nina Laemmle, Gary Tomlin, Michele Poteet-Lisanti, Margaret DePriest, Shjeri Anderson, Leah Laiman, Anne Howard Bailey, Gene
Palumbo, Richard Allen, Beth Millstein, and James Reilly.
