Biography

Van der Veer was born on October 17, 1907 in Oil City, Pennsylvania; grew up in San Diego; contributed stories, articles, and poems to magazines; published books include River pasture (1936), Brown hills (1938), November grass (1940), A few happy ones (1943), My valley in the sky (1959), Hold the rein free (1966), Wallace the wandering pig (1967), Higher than the arrow (1969), To the rescue (1969), The gray mare's colts (1971), and Long trail for Francisco (1974); she died on November 22, 1982 in Ramona, California.

Scope and Content

Collection consists of manuscripts, notebooks and diaries, and correspondence of author Judy Van der Veer. Manuscripts include A few happy ones, November grass, The river pasture, and Brown hills. Correspondents include Lawrence Clark Powell and Hewitt H. Howland, and miscellaneous manuscripts include poems, plays, and stories, mostly written at an early age.
