Abstract: Subject files, administrative/financial and event files, newsletters, reports, and audiotape reels generated by the Friends
of the UCSB Library during the course of its activities from 1958 to its dissolution in 2008.
The collection is open for research. The collection is stored offsite. Advance notice is required for retrieval.

Transfers from the Friends of the Library, various dates to 2009; Audiotapes merged from University Archives recordings in
2010.
From the Friends mission statement: "The Friends of the UCSB Library, founded in 1963, is dedicated to stimulating growth
in library resources and facilities for the 21st century. The Friends seek to heighten community and alumni interest in the
UCSB Libraries and to support academic programs at the University of California Santa Barbara by funding library collections
and facilities." The Friends of the UCSB Library was dissolved in 2008.
Records of the Friends of the UCSB Library, documenting the activities of the organization from 1958 to its dissolution in
2008. Records include event files, research and subject files, annual reports, administrative/financial files, newsletters,
as well as audiotape recordings of Friends- and library-sponsored events.
These records have been organized into five series: Series I. Chronological files, Series II. Finances, Series III. Newsletters,
Series IV. Special Events, Series V. Audio.
