Abstract: The Library History Committee of the California Library Association assumed responsibility for collecting historical materials on California libraries beginning in 1965. The collection consists of correspondence, typescript histories of individual libraries, reports and surveys, tape recorded interviews and transcripts, microfilm copies of California Public Library Reports (1909-55), and a photocopy of the book, The California county library.

Biography

The Library History Committee, California Library Association, assumed responsibility for collecting historical materials on California libraries and designated the UCLA Library as the repository for the collection in 1965.

Scope and Content

Collection consists of typescript histories of individual libraries, reports and surveys. Includes correspondence between members of the California Library Association's California History, Archives and Bibliography Committee. Also contains tape recorded interviews and transcripts, microfilm copies of California Public Library Reports, 1909-55, and a photocopy of the book, The California county library.
