Scope and Content of Collection
The Department of Dramatic Art became an autonomous department in 1964 when it separated from the Department of Speech and
Drama. In 1966, the Department of Physical Education's dance program moved to the Department of Dramatic Art as the Dance
Division. At some point in the 1980s-1990s, the department was renamed to the Department of Theater and Dance.
This collection contains materials from the period when drama was still part of the Department of Speech and Drama, as well
as materials from after the separation. Materials are arranged in the following categories:
Arrangement
- Department of Speech and Drama. Contains performance materials from the 1950s-1960s.
- Department of Dramatic Art. Contains audition, performance, and course materials from the 1960s-1980s when drama formed its own department.
- Dance Division. Contains performance materials from the period between the dance program move from Physical Education and its incorporation into the Department of Theater and Dance.
- Department of Theater and Dance. Contains performance flyers.
