Biography

Hal Cranton was the assistant director of the Bee Bar Bee Riders radio series and occassionally wrote for both the radio and television program. The television program started as an half-hour live western series seen weekly on WOR-TV NY from April 18-Sept. 29, 1950. The program started as a musical variety program featuring Don Knotts as Windy Wales and Bobby Benson as Ivan Curry. The radio programs were broadcast on the Mutual Broadcasting System.

Scope and Content

Collection consists of material related to the career of writer and director Hal Cranton. Contains photocopies, originals, and annotated versions of television and radio scripts for Bobby Benson and the Bee Bar Bee Riders. Also includes copies of NBC-TV network program sales presentation booklets, some but not all, written or prepared by Cranton. Scripts were donated in honor of Don Knotts. Program sales presentations were donated in honor of Sylvester L. (Pat) Weaver.
