Biography
Bob Finkel was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania on March 25, 1918. He attended the Carnegie Institution of Technology (1936-40).
He moved west to Hollywood and started his career writing western scripts working his way up to assistant producer at Republic
Studios. Following his discharge from the Army Signal Corps after WWII, Finkel returned to Hollywood and took a position as
production manager for the Coronet and Las Palmas Theatres. He was then hired by ABC as that network's first television director
in Los Angeles, moved to Revue Productions as a director and then to NBC-TV as a producer/director. He has mainly been associated
with television variety shows, including four years as producer of
The Andy Williams Show. He also headed
The Perry Como Show,
The Dinah Shore Show,
The Jerry Lewis Show, and
The Beautiful Phyllis Diller Show, among others. He served as Executive Producer for
Elvis, the first television special starring Elvis Presley. Finkel has also produced numerous specials staring John Davidson, John
Denver, Liberace and others; and has also produced the Emmy Awards, the Academy Awards, and the People's Choice Awards shows.
Finkel's directing credits include
McMillan & Wife,
The Bob Newhart Show, and
Barney Miller. He is the receipent of numerous awards including three Emmys and the Peabody Award for his work in television.

Collection consists of stills and slides of television variety show sets. Includes black and white as well as color photographs
of shows including
The Dinah Shore show,
The Bing Crosby show,
The Phyllis Diller show,
The Jerry Lewis show, and
The Andy Williams show.
