The Sacramento/Yolo Peace Action Chapter assembled these records over many years as part of their effort to promote anti-nuclear
involvement worldwide. The records were handed over to the CSUS Special Collections and University Archives in 2002.

Biographical/Historical note
The Sacramento Chapter of Peace Action evolved out of the national Peace Action organization. Peace Action originally comprised
the combined forces of SANE and FREEZE or SANE/FREEZE; two anti-nuclear proliferation groups. Sacramento-Yolo Peace Action
organized local peace demonstrations. A comparable peace organization originating in the Sacramento Area was Grandmothers
for Peace.
Sacramento/Yolo Peace Action referred to as Sacramento Area Peace Action is a chapter of the national organization Peace Action.
Peace Action developed from two anti-nuclear proliferation groups, SANE and The Freeze in 1993. Peace Action is a grassroots
peace network with affiliates and chapters throughout the country that focuses on educating the public and activating constitutents
in order to create responsible US policies.
Scope and Contents note
Historical records, administrative files, meeting materials, newsletters, articles, program files, material from the SANE
Nuclear Freeze campaign, 2 volumes of signatures of an appeal to Soviet General Secretary Gorbachev and President Reagan,
and 3 posters.
