Materials include correspondence, questionnaires, reports, and unpublished papers. The collection is arranged in three series: 1) CORRESPONDENCE, 2) RESEARCH MATERIALS and 3) WRITINGS BY OTHERS.
SERIES 1: CORRESPONDENCE
The CORRESPONDENCE series contains communications between Dr. Townsend, colleagues and anthropologists concerning research involving the observation and understanding of the Papua New Guinea traditional childbirth techniques. The bulk of the correspondence dates from 1982 to 1985.
