Scope and Contents

The Stanford Fleet Street Singers Collection consists of open reel tape recordings of the sixteen-member all-male a capella group founded at Stanford University in 1981. Outfitted in vests and cardinal-red bow ties and socks, the group performs original material mixed with sketch comedy. However, standards and covers used to be part of the repertoire, and these recordings are a mix of both. The collection contains recordings from Spring Shows 1986-87 Spring Show, as well as the studio masters for their self-released album Full Moon at the Quad from 1988, which includes perhaps their most well-known song, Stanford's Alma Mater "Hail, Stanford, Hail" interpreted as "Hail Stanford Rap."
