Abstract: The Photograph album is a collection of 79 Gelatin DOP black and white
photographs of the members of Davis Boy Scout Troop No. 1 and its activities from 1922 to 1927. Photographs show the
activities of the Boy Scout troop and the buidling of the Davis Boy Scout Cabin.
Physical Location: Researchers should contact Archives and Special Collections to request
collections, as many are stored offsite.
History
The Davis Boy Scout Troop No. 1 was sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and later designated as Troop 66. The
Davis troop was part of the Kit Carson Council, and was called the Daniel Boones. The Carson Council was short lived and the
troop later became part of Golden Empire Council. It is active as of April, 2009.
Scope and Content
The photograph album is a collection of 79 Gelatin DOP black and white photographs of the members of Davis Boy Scout Troop
No. 1 and the troop's activities from 1922 to 1927.
Scenes that are included are: the scout meeting place at the Davis Grammer School; P… (Word not readable) Hole, Burnett's
Hole, Straloch Farm, Picnic Day at UC Davis, presentation of the American Flag by the American Legion Post, Stevenson's
Bridge, Salmon Falls Camp, Swinging Bridge at the American River, Proposed campsite on Clear Lake, Mount Konokti,
Buckingham's, Camp Consumnes at the North Fork of the Consumnes River (11 miles from El Dorado), YMCA Cabin at Putah Canyon,
Sutter's Fort Park at Sacramento, Toyland at Sacramento, P, G & E Station at Sacramento, Willow Slough on Conway Ranch,
Camp Bigelow on the North Fork of the Yuba River, between Comptonville and Downieville, 100 miles from Davis, and Camp
Audrain.
The photograph album also includes photographs of the Boy Scout Cabin being built in the Spring of 1927.
