Biographical/Historical Sketch
The basement of Meyer Library at Stanford University was flooded in November 1978 from a ruptured water main. Affected books
were frozen and then dried in a vacuum chamber at the Lockheed Missiles & Space Company in Sunnyvale, California.
Collection includes four photographs of library staff at the Lockheed facilities and two articles on the freezing process.
