Abstract: Gordon Harold Ball (1899- ) was a professor of zoology at UCLA (1946- ). His research concerned marine invertebrates and the
parasitic protozoa, especially the gregarines and malarial organisms. Ball also served as president of the American Society
of Parasitologists (1963), of the Western Society of Naturalists (1941), and of the Society of Protozoologists (1958). The
collection consists of correspondence, research and bibliographical notes, technical drawings and photographs relating to
Ball's career.

Ball was born September 20, 1899 in Warren, Pennsylvania; BS (1920) and MS (1921), University of Pittsburgh, and Ph.D from
UC Berkeley (1924); became instructor (1924), professor (1946), and professor emeritus (1967) at UCLA; served as president
of the American Society of Parasitologists (1963), of the Western Society of Naturalists (1941), and of the Society of Protozoologists
(1958); his research concerned marine invertebrates and the parasitic protozoa, especially the gregarines and malarial organisms;
wrote
Gregarines from Bermuda marine crustaceans (1951).
Collection consists of papers relating to Ball's career as a zoologist at UCLA, including correspondence, research and bibliographical
notes, technical drawings and photographs.
