Biographical/Historical Sketch
The Advisory Board advises the President on recommendations for academic appointments, promotions, and dismissals; for the
creation of new departments; for the abolition of departments; and any other matter that the President may choose to refer
to it.
Description of the Collection
Minutes, memoranda, correspondence, reports, and other miscellaneous documents pertaining largely to faculty appointments
and promotions in the university, including the Medical School, Law School, School of Education, Hopkins Marine Station, and
the Graduate School of Business. Other issues the Board considered include academic organization and structures, policies
