Scope and Content of Collection
Home Economics was one of the earliest fields of instruction at UCSB, starting with the Santa Barbara State Normal School
of Manual Arts and Home Economics, founded 1909. The Home Economics Club, also known as Kappa Omicron Phi, had a club residence
(the Home Management House) where some members lived during the school year. Several of the scrapbooks in this collection
are specific to the women living in that house. The Home Economics department was phased out at the end of the 1972/1973 school
year.
The collection contains record and ledger books maintained by the treasurers and secretaries of the club, guestbooks for visitors
to the Home Management House, and scrapbooks documenting the club's events and members.
