Baby book for daughter Doris. Includes birth announcement, photos, and letters. Birth and Infancy (with photos of baby Doris and the Barr and Mann families), visit to the Japanese Tea Gardens, Golden Gate Park (1902), and homes in Berkeley and Stockton.
Items removed: Barr family correspondence, circa 1879-1909, including letters of James B. Barr, Dolley Barr, Julia Barr and James A. Barr.

Schooldays in Berkeley, Stockton, Towle (Placer Co.), and Fruitvale; family matters; appointments of father James A. Barr, as manager, Bureau of Conventions and Societies, and a chief , Dept. of Education, PPIE; and family outings to Lake Tahoe and Yosemite.
Items include: copies of letters written by Doris to her father, and letters, mostly from her grandmother, Hattie Mae Mann, and her father.
Items removed: letter and postcard from Lt. Philip Child, July-Aug. 1916.

Social activities; school days in Berkeley (the Randolph School, University High School, McKinley Intermediate and Berkeley High); concerts; trips to Stockton, San Francisco, Yosemite, and Big Trees; plans for PPIE, the U.C.-Stanford Big Game, Nov. 14, 1914, train journey from San Francisco to ST. Paul and Chicago via the Canadian Rockies (June 26-July 18, 1914); Mann family genealogy; and impact of World War I.
Items include: letters to her parents, photos at Nippon Mura (Los Gatos), 1914, letters of James A. Barr, Ernest Seton-Romper, James A. Barr, Jr., and Ina D. Coolbrith.
Items removed: letters of Stephen H. Mann, genealogical note on Barr-Mann family, map of Canadian Rockies, stamps commemorating the University of California, Berkeley.

Scope and Content Note

Material primarily re the PPIE: clippings, excerpts of official publications, invitations, programs, photos, extensive journal entries (particularly while residing on the exposition grounds, circa May 29 to Aug. 1915), letters to James A. Barr and Doris. Work of James A. Barr in exposition planning and participation in PPIE activities. A near daily record of exposition sight and exhibits visited by Doris.
Items include: letters of Charles C. Moore and Louis Christian Mullgardt to James A. Barr, and not of Bernard Maybeck to Doris Barr.
Items removed: clippings, postcard, etc.

Scope and Content Note

Material partly regarding PPIE: clippings from newspapers and official PPIE publications, postcard, maps, photos, and memorabilia; letters and notes of James A. Barr. Also letters (many to James A. Barr), photos, concert programs, etc. Residence in Stockton, 1916-1917, attendance at Stockton High, civic and social activities in Stockton, family matters, automobile touring (to Santa Cruz, Sierras, and Witter Springs), concerts.
Items include: letters from Phoebe Apperson Hearst, Hiram W. Johnson, James Rolph, P.P. Cloxten, Benjamin Ide Wheeler, Charles C. Moore, James A. Barr, and Woodrow Wilson. Statement of James A. Barr, July 19, 1916, regarding PPIE work.

Includes photos, programs, letters, clippings, and memorabilia. Residence in Stockton, attendance at Stockton High School, Red Cross work, social activities, camping at Emerald Bay (Lake Tahoe), motor trip to Nevada, and 1919 influenza epidemic.
Items include: letters of George B. Christian, Jr. (secretary to Senator Warren G. Harding) and Henry T. Long (secretary to Governor Calvin Coolidge) to James A. Barr.
Items removed: letters from Private Edward L. Creity, Philip A. Child, and Mervyn G. Dunnagan, theater programs, World War I memorabilia and miscellaneous manuscripts.

Includes programs, clippings, photos, cards, tickets, University of California memorabilia, and letters. Freshman and sophomore years at U.C. Berkeley (including work on the Daily Californian); social activities (example: San Francisco Opera and symphony); trips to Yosemite, Marin and Stockton; and voice lessons.
Items include: U.C. exams, registration cards, grade reports and photos of campus.
Items removed: U.C. memorabilia and letters of James A. Barr to Doris.

Sightseeing and business trip by auto through the Pacific Northwest, Canadian Rockies, and return trip via Montana, Idaho, Utah and Nevada, accompanied by her mother and brother. Describes stops en route: Portland, Seattle, Victoria and Vancouver, B.C., and Glacier and Yellowstone Parks.
Items removed: Canadian maps.

Scope and Content Note

Includes photos, concert programs, clippings, and letters. Trip to Hawaii, Sierra Club trips to Sierras and social activities, including numerous Bay Area concert performances.
Items removed: photos of 1930 Sierra Club trip, and letters of various members of the Barr and Mann families, circa 1868-1901.

Scope and Content Note

Includes concert programs, postcards, photos, clippings and letters. Record of a business trip to Europe, accompanied by her mother. Describes theater, concert and opera performances, social activities, and sightseeing in England, Holland, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, and Hungary. Return by ship from Germany.
Items removed: letters from Henryka Cohn Suggrian, Metianna Towler, George James, Dr. W. Batchelor Taylor, Phillip Bassett, Charles W. Wright, Grete Serény and Margaret Daggett.
