Description
The California Transportation Company ledger, 1894-1903, (SAFR 21339, HDC 1614) consists of one bound ledger of accounts of business at river ports for steamers and barges owned by Captains A. Nelson and A. Anderson.
Background
Agency History: The California Transportation Company was owned and operated by Captains A. E. Anderson and A. Nelson and ran steamboats on the surrounding rivers of the San Francisco Bay. The California Transportation Company eventually merged with the Sacramento Navigation Company and the Fay Transportation Company and became the River Lines Company. It is possible that Captain A. E. Anderson is Arvid Anderson and Captain A. Nelson is Aksel Nelson.
