    Biography

    Frederic Harvey Vercoe was born on October 13, 1876 in Chicago, Illinois; LL.B, Lake Forest University, 1897; LL.M, Chicago Law School, 1898; admitted to the Illinois bar in 1898, and practiced in Chicago until 1913; admitted to the California bar in 1914 and was deputy public defender (1914-21), chief deputy (1921-27), and beginning in 1927, Public Defender of Los Angeles County.
