Background
The Center for Libertarian Studies (CLS), an American non-profit organization for the promotion of libertarianism and libertarian research, was founded in 1976 by Murray N. Rothbard and Burton S. Blumert. The organization developed from the Libertarian Scholars Conferences and was headquartered in New York, New York, where most of its early conferences were held. The organization later moved to Burlingame, California.
