Description
Ben Margolis (1910- ) helped draft the United Nations charter, the rule of law, and the conduct of the United States government
in Viet-nam and the Dominican Republic (1965). The collection consists of government documents regarding Ben Margolis including
material from the FBI, the Naval Investigation Service, the Department of the Treasury, CIA, Department of State, Department
of Justice, and the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization.
Background
Margolis was born on April 23, 1910 in New York City, New York; attended Santa Barbara State College, 1926-28; AB, University
of Southern California, 1929; LL.B, University of California, Hastings School of Law, 1933; admitted to California bar, 1933;
did legal work for the CIO; associated with several law firms, including Gladstein, Grossman and Margolis (San Francisco,
1937-43) and Margolis, McTernan, Scope, Sacks & Epstein (Los Angeles), beginning in 1973; member, National Lawyers Guild;
wrote, with others, The United Nations charter, the rule of law, and the conduct of the United States government in Viet-nam
and the Dominican Republic (1965).
