Architectural drawings 1898-1936

Scope and Contents note

Original drawings and reproductive prints document design work by Gill from throughout his career, although not all of his work is represented. He is believed to have stored files from his office in Los Angeles, and those files have never been recovered.
Most drawings are identified, although some are for unknown projects or clients. Items include early sketches and design schemes, presentation renderings, and technical drawings. Note that some photographs and copy negatives of drawings can be found in the Photographs related to Gill's practice series.
The drawings are dated 1896-1936 and represent work from Gill's partnerships with W. S. Hebbard, Frank Mead, and with his nephew, Louis Gill. Some renderings, including landscape designs, are by Lloyd Wright (Frank lloyd Wright Jr.). Other drawings document periods when Gill worked alone.
