Arranged hierarchically then chronologically. Consists of papers of Exploratorium founder Frank Oppenheimer as well as those of current director Goéry Delacôte. Oppenheimer's papers are further sub-divided into correspondence, writings, professional affiliations, awards and fellowships, biographical materials, interviews and subject files. These materials detail Oppenheimer's efforts to develop the Exploratorium in the late 1960's and his involvement over the next quarter century in all phases of the museum's operation. Delacôte's papers are sub-divided into correspondence, board of directors, administrative files, writings, professional affiliations and biographical materials. Contains some materials in French.
