Abstract: Irving H. Hellman (1883- ) was the vice-president and director of the Hellman Commercial Trust & Savings Bank, director of
the Merchants National Bank and the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. His hobby was horseback riding, and he was president
of the Bridle Path Association. The collection consists of 5 photograph albums and 2 scrapbooks of material related to Hellman's
interest in horses. The collection also includes a letter book with tissue copies of business correspondence (1903-08) of
Herman W. Hellman, clippings and correspondence related to the death of Herman W. Hellman, and a 1931 yearbook from Beverly
Hills High School.

Biography
Irving H. Hellman was born May 10, 1883 in Los Angeles, California; he succeeded his father, Herman W. Hellman (1843-1906),
in the banking business; he was vice-president and director of the Hellman Commercial Trust & Savings Bank; director of the
Merchants National Bank and the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce; his hobby was horseback riding and he was president of the
Bridle Path Association.
Biographical Narrative
Irving H. Hellman was born on May 10, 1883, the son of Herman W. Hellman, an early investor in Los Angeles real estate, business
and banking. He succeeded his father in the banking business and became a vice-president and director of the Hellman Commercial
Trust & Savings Bank, and a director of the Merchants National Bank, the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, and over 20 corporations.
He was a member of the Jonathan, Uplifters, Tuna,Beach, Los Angeles Athletic, Catalina Yacht and many other clubs. He was
an enthusiastic and accomplished horseman, as is reflected in this collection, and was also President of the Bridle Path Association.
Scope and Content
Collection consists of 5 photograph albums and 2 scrapbooks of material related to Irving Hellman's interest in horses. Two
of the albums contain photos of the Beverly Hills Horse Show of 1925. The collection also includes a letter book with tissue
copies of business correspondence (1903-08) of Herman W. Hellman, clippings and correspondence related to the death of Herman
W. Hellman, and a 1931 yearbook from Beverly Hills High School which belonged to Evelyn Hellman.
