Description
This collection consists of letters from William Fullerton to and from his family during his term of enlistment in the Union Army from 1862-1865.
Background
William B. Fullerton was born in 1823 in Wolfboro, New Hampshire and died there at the age of 84 in 1906. He enlisted in the 12th New Hampshire Infantry August 12, 1862. He served for three years in the Union Army, spending most of the time sick in a hospital, and then working for the Quarter Master's office in Albany, New York. After discharge, he went home to Wolfboro, New Hampshire to take over the family farm. There he married and had two children.
