Acquisition Information
The Records of the Gnome Club were donated to the Caltech Archives in July of 1999 by Robert C. Perpall, Class of 1952. Supplements
continue to be made.
Historical Note
Caltech's oldest social organization, the Gnome Club was founded on March 9, 1897 by James C. Creamer, who became the first
president of the Club. Over the years the Gnome Club has had a variety of roles: honorary society, secret society, fraternity,
and off-campus club. Its existence and activities have been continuous, and its ideals of courage, loyalty, and truth have
remained predominant and unchanged.
Scope and Content
The collection is organized in six archival boxes, the first four boxes containing the Gnome Club documents and the fifth
and sixth box containing some of the Club's photos, artifacts and miscellaneous material.
