Biography: Jack Shickell worked on the BALCLUTHA restoration between 1955-1959.
Collection Scope and Content
The Jack Shickell annotated book and photograph, circa 1950-60, (SAFR 22685, HDC 1626), contains of a copy of "Salt-Water
Poems and Ballads" by John Masefield, 1960 edition, and a black and white photograph.
The book was annotated by Jack Shickell. Inside front cover of the book is a bookplate "EX LIBRIS JACK SHICKELL." Annotation
on the first page reads "Jack Shickell M. M. in Balclutha San Francisco 1955-9." The print depicts Shickell aloft on a yard
of the BALCLUTHA with a caption on the reverse stating he fell from that yard (1964). Noted on the reverse of the print is
"Gordon and Marjorie Fountain Good shipmates-both JS." This collection is processed to the collection level and is open for
use without restrictions.

Photographic print has been removed from the book and housed in same folder with the book.
