Record Series 300 contains the administrative files of Stafford L. Warren, Dean of the School of Medicine at the University
of California, Los Angeles.
Background
Stafford Leak Warren (1896-1981) earned his B.A. at University of California at Berkeley in 1918; M.A. and M.D. at University
of California San Francisco Medical School, 1922; and accomplished his postgraduate studies at Johns Hopkins University and
Harvard, 1922-1925. Warren went on to direct the Atomic Energy Project at the University of Rochester (1943) and worked on
the Manhattan Project. After the war, Warren came to UCLA to serve as dean of the School of Medicine (1947-1962), vice-chancellor
of the Health Sciences (1962-1963) and professor emeritus at UCLA (1965-1981).
