Abstract: This collection comprises architectural drawings, plans, renderings, and blueprints used in the construction of the University
of California, Irvine campus and College of Medicine from 1963-1976. Materials include black and white and color images and
are in both paper and tissue paper formats. The collection includes plans for major campus buildings such as academic units,
campus support facilities, and student housing as well as plans for campus layout and infrastructure, including landscaping,
roads, and utility systems.

Organizational History
In December 1963, ground was broken for the first major buildings on the University of California, Irvine campus, and in January
1964, construction began. The initial structures that were included in the first Long Range Development Plan included Library-Administration,
Commons, Humanities-Social Science, Fine Arts, Natural Sciences and Science Lecture Hall, Central Plant, Campus Hall (later
Crawford Hall), and Mesa Court. Architectural plans for most of these structures are included in this collection.

This collection comprises architectural drawings, plans, renderings, and blueprints used in the construction of the University
of California, Irvine campus and College of Medicine from 1963-1976. Materials include black and white and color images and
are in both paper and tissue paper formats. The collection includes plans for major campus buildings such as academic units,
