Collection Overview
Table of contents What's This?
Typed reproductions of 8 letters written by D.Q. Adams in the years 1864 and 1869. Letters are mainly addressed to L.D. Stephens, and written from various places in the Nevada Territory and Butte and Tehama Counties in California. Subjects includes crop prices and yields, mules and money.
The Society has no biographical information about D.Q. Adams, but the History of Yolo County, California (Thomas Jefferson Gregory, Los Angeles: Historic Record Co., 1913) cites him as an original stockholder in the Bank of Woodland. The president of this bank in Yolo County, incorporated in 1868, was Lawrence D. Stephens, the person to whom the letters are addressed. (pg. 205)
