These letters were found in books inscribed to W. L. Schwartz by their authors; correspondents are Fernand Desonay, 1938-40, Marc Adolphe Guegan, 1924, Leon Lemonnier, 1931, Hubert Fabureau, 1930, and Albert Flory, 1927. There are also several typescript poems by Flory.
Background
William Leonard Schwartz was Associate Professor of Romanic Languages at Stanford University, where he also earned his MA (1920) and Ph.D. (1926).
