Established in 1970, the Women's Opportunities Center (WOC) at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) provides career, educational, and personal guidance to community members from diverse backgrounds. The WOC is one of the community programs supported by UCI Extension. UCI Extension serves the continuing education needs of the community through certificate programs, specialized studies, seminars and lectures, and cultural enrichment programs. Extension courses are designed to promote career advancement as well as personal development for all age groups. The WOC program has grown to meet the needs of men and women in career and life transitions and is therefore also known as the Women's Opportunities Center/Career Planning & Life Planning. The WOC is a non-profit program supported by membership dues, corporate and community donations, course and workshop fees, and volunteers. The center does not receive state or federal funding.
